18-19 ottobre 2008 : SCRAP weekend con Michelle Van Etten

Siamo ancora elettrizzate dal Creative Weekend con Donna Downey ed abbiamo già pensato  al prossimo evento! Appuntamento per Sabato e Domenica 18-19 ottobre 2008 a Roma, per due giornate ricche di corsi con una scrapper d'eccezione: la simpaticissima Michelle Van Etten.

Michelle, alias trendyscrapper sui forum di scrapbooking, ha 34 anni e vive in Florida (Valrico) con il marito Jim, il figlio James di 5 anni , e la figlia Malia di 18 mesi.  Ha una laurea in Psicologia, ma ha scelto di essere una mamma casalinga a tempo pieno ed adora questo ruolo.

I suoi figli occupano molto del suo tempo, ma le offrono tutte le motivazioni per scrappare!

Ha iniziato a scrappare nel 2004, quando un'amica l'ha fatta avvicinare a questo modo creativo di conservare i ricordi. In breve tempo però si annoia di questo stile e nel 2005 scopre l'arte del vero design ed è amore a prima vista! Il tutto è iniziato cercando un modo originale per mostrare le foto di famiglia e la storia che si nasconde dietro ogni foto, questa ricerca si evolve sempre di più finchè non emerge il suo stile vero e proprio: un "eclettico shabby chic".

A Michelle piace essere anticonvenzionale. I suoi prodotti preferiti sono carte patterned, stoffa e fiori. E' molto fiera di far parte del Team di Prima Marketing nel ruolo di insegnante.

Fa parte di molti design Team: We R Memory Keepers, Stemma, Picture it Page Frames, Bad Girl Kits e Little Black Dress. I suoi lavori sono stati pubblicati in molte riviste ed ha lavorato a diverse pubblicazioni. Quest'anno è stata chiamata in svariati paesi a tenere dei corsi : dal Canada alla Germania ed in autunno sarà prima al PACS a Parigi e poi da Scrap4all a Roma.

October 18-19, 2008: SCRAP Weekend with Michelle Van Etten

We have hardly recovered from the fabulous Creative Weekend with Donna Downey and now we are already organizing the next event. It will be in Rome the weekend of October 18-19, 2008 and we will have with us Michelle Van Etten .

Michelle AKA trendyscrapper on the scrapping message boards is 34 and lives in Valrico Florida with her husband Jim, her son James age 5, and Malia 18 months. She has a degree in Psychology but chooses to be a stay at home mom and loves it. Her children keep her very busy but give her every reason in the world to scrapbook!

She started scrapping in 2004 when a friend introduced her to creative memories. She quickly bored of that style of scrapbooking and quit. In 2005 she discovered the art of scrapbook design and was instantly hooked. It started as a way to showcase her family photos in a more unique way and tell the story behind the photos. It has evolved into much more than that. It is her creative outlet she is an eclectic shabby chic scrapbook designer. She enjoys thinking out of the box. Her staples supplies patterned paper, textile, and flowers. She is excited and honored to be the Prima Educator (Flower Girl).

She is a product designer for Prima and one of the creators of the Build-A-Book. A new concept that allows the artist the freedom to design their book based on a concept of mix and matching all the interchangeable pages.

She is a design team member for We R Memory Keepers, Stemma, Picture it Page Frames, Bad Girl Kits and Little Black dress. Her work has appeared in most magazines and she has worked on different book projects. She is a co-author of 2 books by design originals (Clearly Classy Albums and Clear Cards) .Teaching classes have her traveling around the world from Canada to Germany and all over the USA this year. She taught at CHA and CKU for prima Marketing Inc and will be teaching Crop for Kids for Fancy Pants, We R Memory Keepers, and Stemma.

Next fall she will be teaching at the Paper and Co Show in Paris and afterwords at Scrap4all in Rome.

Creative Weekend with Donna Downey

Un'esperienza indimenticabile ed un'avventura straordinaria!

Come organizzatrici non avremmo potuto chiedere di più: bel tempo, nonostante le previsioni non eccezionali, un albergo favoloso, delle scrapper internazionali piene di talento, affiatate ed a tratti anche scatenate, ed un'insegnante come Donna Downey, una persona squisita, disponibile, spiritosa e così alla mano, che adesso quando tutte noi parliamo di lei, parliamo di un'amica.

Sono stati 3 giorni stupendi e ci dispiace tanto che questo weekend sia già finito.
Abbiamo avuto un attimo di panico quando i bagagli di Donna non sono arrivati. Non per altro ma nei bagagli c'erano i kit di tutti i corsi!!!

Con un po' di "creatività" da parte nostra e tanta disponibilità da parte del nostro gruppo siamo riuscite ad organizzare le cose al meglio. Abbiamo cambiato il crop serale al mattino, abbiamo aggiunto un corso extra durante il giorno mentre aspettavamo impazienti i bagagli, e quando sono arrivati, abbiamo fatto i corsi durante il crop serale.
Il pigiama crop si è tramutato in "corsi in pigiama", LOL! La maggior parte scrappava ancora tutta pimpante alle 2 di notte e domenica mattina all'ultimo corso eravamo tutte un tantino stanche, dobbiamo ammetterlo.

E che corsi! Uno più bello dell'altro ed uno diverso dall'altro. Quando ho chiesto a sei persone a caso qual'era stato il corso più bello, due hanno risposto My Kind of Beautiful, due Journey of Me e  due A Year in the Life. Meglio di così!

Donna è un'ottima insegnante per la quale è fondamentale che i suoi studenti creino qualcosa per LORO stessi, non per lei. Nessuna di noi scorderà più la frase ripetuta spesso da Donna :

"If it makes you happy"

Carola, Martha ed io vogliamo ancora una volta ringraziare tutti i partecipanti per il loro entusiasmo e Donna per aver reso questo weekend un evento indimenticabile!

An unforgettable experience and an extraordinary adventure!

As organizers of the event we couldn't have asked for more: the weather turned out beautiful, the hotel was gorgeous, we had a group of talented international scrapbookers who worked in harmony, made friends, were riotous at times, and as our instructor we had Donna Downey,  a wonderful woman, so kind and easygoing that from now on each one of us will consider her as a friend.

We spent 3 fabulous days together and we're sad that it's already over.
I have to admit we had a moment of panic when Donna's luggage stayed in London when she arrived. We wouldn't have minded at all but ALL THE KITS were in it!!!!

With a little bit of "creativity" from us and a lot of good will and understanding from the group, we organized everything. We switched the Saturday night crop to Saturday morning crop, added another class during the day while waiting for the luggage to arrive, and when the kits arrived, we had two pyjama classes instead of the pyjama crop. Most of us were still happy to scrap at 2 in the morning.
I have to admit that the next morning we were a little tired though:)

The classes were super. When I asked six people which one they liked best, two of them said My Kind of Beautiful, two Journey of Me and two liked A Year in the Life the most. Perfect!
Donna is an excellent teacher who underlines the importance of creating for yourself, not for the instructor. None of us will ever forget the phrase she kept saying: "If it makes you happy".

Carola, Martha and I want to thank again all the participants whose enthusiasm made a big difference and Donna, who made this weekend an unforgettable event!

Il kit di maggio 2008: Katlin - Crate Paper

E' disponibile allo SHOP il kit di maggio!

Questo mese abbiamo scelto una delle nuove linee della Crate Paper: "Katlin" ricca di colori ma allo stesso tempo delicata.
La consistenza e la texture di queste carte sono favolose e si adattano sia a Layout che a qualsiasi altro tipo di progetto. E come se non bastasse sono double face, così non avrete nessuna remora ma solo l'imbarazzo della scelta su quali carte utilizzare.

Vi mostriamo qualche lavoro realizzato con queste splendide carte:

"Family Vacation" (di Carola)

Per questo LO ho utilizzato due carte Patterned, le chipboard per scrivere il titolo, un die-cuts e qualche rubon (tutti materiali contenuti nel Kit Katlin), infine qualche spennellata di acrilico intorno alle foto e lungo i bordi del foglio 30x30 (Acrylic Paint Dabber di Ranger Ink, disponibili anche questi allo SHOP in una vasta gamma di colori).

"1st time" (di Helena)

Per questo LO ho utilizzato die-cuts e un foglio del Kit Katlin ("heartbreaker"), le chipboard letters di Crate Papers, i fiocchi di neve in acetato di H.Swapp e l'Acrylic Paint Dabber di Ranger Ink (colore Pearl).

Ho seguito uno degli sketches di Layouts Designing di D. Downey.
