The monthly challenge is up at Once Upon A...Sketch! This month it is Team A's turn to reveal their layouts.
Theme: "Its The Weekend!"
What does your weekend look like?
Maybe you work, or run around like crazy taking your kids to activities etc. Lunch with friends? Movies? Dinner? Or maybe you do all the exciting stuff like ...clean the house, tend to the garden , kinds birthday parties. You might like to tell us of an exciting weekend coming up, or a weekend past. Maybe a weekend getaway? Whatever it is that you want to tell us that has to do with the theme "Its The Weekend" we would love to hear it.
Your layout must incorporate this theme and the sketch below.
Please make sure that we see some sort of journalling on your layouts and please tell us where your journalling is . You are allowed to journal in any language but please tell us where on your page we will find your journalling. Remember journalling has to be a bit more than a title, or a generic comment. Hidden journalling is perfectly fine.
Here's my interpretation.
Instead of one photo I used 6 smaller ones of our weekend in Darling Harbour, Sydney this past January. Loved the place (loved the whole adventure in Australia!) and took a bunch of photos. My journaling is hidden on the tag underneath the last photo strip.
To create the background I swiped gesso with a credit card, added layers with book paper, patterned paper, notebook paper, Hambly transparency, washi tape, Glimmer mist, stamping, stitching and modeling paste with a stencil.
TFL and thanks for any comment you may want to leave. They are always greatly appreciated!
is the title of my page for OUAS January challenge.
Theme: "The start of something new"
The new year is among us. What better way to celebrate change, renewed hope and having a positive attitude than with a brand new year? A new start...a new horizon and the start of something new! A new year is full of possibilities.
So in honor of the start of 2013, we would like you to create a layout and interpret the theme "The start of something new..." however you like based on the following sketch. Whatever that sentence inspires you to scrap then go for it.
Ideas for journalling: Include the theme sentence as your title, a new job coming up or the beginning of a new job and in the past and what it meant to you, a child's new toy, a new house you are building/moving in to or one you have moved in already, a new year and what it means to you, a new attitude, the start of a new school year, a new relationship - yours, a family members, your child's, a new friendship, new wardrobe, new diet, new phone, new haircut...
You can journal as little or as much as you like, but your layout must incorporate this theme and the sketch below.
Here is the sketch
This is my interpretation
I wanted to create a page to celebrate a new friendship - actually a new friendship with 12 wonderful ladies who I met last September in Oregon at a photography retreat.
These wonderful ladies have come into my life to stay and they have made it more beautiful.
We would like you to create a layout and interpret the theme "'It's December.. " however you like based on the following sketch. You can journal as little or as much as you like, but your layout must incorporate this theme and the sketch below. Please make sure that we see some sort of journalling on your layouts and please tell us where your journalling is . Hidden journalling is perfectly fine.
Ideas for Journalling: We know that not everyone celebrates Christmas in December, but if you do we would love to hear all about it. If not, then tell us anything that you like about December..celebratory on not!
Here is the sketch
I love Christmas so the only difficulty for me was to pick the right photo. I ended up choosing this one with candles since we burn candles throughout the whole month of December.
I used Imaginarium Designs chipboard border which I treated first with gesso and paint and then embossed with UTEE. You'll see the effect in the closeups.
Today is the Team B reveal time at Once Upon A ...Sketch. Check it out here.
Theme: Anything Goes..
Yep! You read right.. No theme this month. You are free to create a layout based on whatever theme you like. You can journal as little or as much as you like, but your layout must include SOME journalling AND the sketch below.
Please make sure that we see some sort of journalling on your layouts and please tell us where your journalling is . Hidden journalling is perfectly fine.
Here is my interpretation
I scrapped a photo of Andrea when he was at the hospital for a minor operation in 2006. His attitude was the best. Right before the operation he had his earphones on and he was jamming away. Note the lil teddybear beside him. Andrea asked the bear to be anesthetized with him and the doctors played the part ;)
Inspiration Words: together, read, daily-- use these as inspiration for your journaling, not just as a title
I admit that these colors were quite difficult for me but at the end I pulled it off.
I built up layers with misting and masking, tapping Distress Ink through a stencil, stamping a lot on the background. I continued to create layers with different papers, tags and a misted doily. One of the matting papers is a Tim Holtz package and on the UL corner there's a piece of a Jenni Bowlin package. Gotta love recycling, lol!
For my evidence this time I used trees and branches (faintly seen on the background paper), border (stamped the half circles onto the left edge of the layout) and misting.
My hidden journaling is written on the yellow tag underneath the photo. It's about the joys (and sorrows) of starting over having a child @40 and about how we've managed together. My journaling spot = the tag has also a stamped border on it.
The title is Imaginarium Designs' chipboard which I colored with Distress inks and a touch of white paint.
