TRIBUTE TO HUBS

While going thru a pile of older photographs I found one that I knew I wanted to scrap.

I used Creative Scrappers' sketch #156 as my inspiration and voilà

The long title is "He stole my heart and still holds it" but in between I wrote a longer journaling which you can read here:

I used acrylic paints, machine stitching, masking & misting and hand stitching.

Nowadays he has more mustache and less hair but he's still THE ONE.

I originally thought it perfect from Valentina to Andrea but to think of it, it fits also the other way around. 

I painted with acrylics, stamped, stitched and misted with Tattered Angels mists and masks. I also used a self-made mask with different sizes of holes punched on a cardboard.

I made this layout for The Color Room challenge #48 using Creative Scrappers' sketch #145.

It's based on Creative Scrappers' sketch #143

I started out with painting with acrylics on the canvas, then I used Heidi Swapp's mask with Glimmer mist Graphite, then I attached the photo, sewed the ribbon under the photo, mounted the canvas on a light blue cardstock, stamped a bit around the edges and under the title with Studio 490 stamps (LOVE THEM!),added some gesso for more texture, sewed some more, stamped the circles on coordinating cardstock and mounted them with foam squares. For the title I used some old letter stickers (as you can see, I didn't have any upper or lowercase "e"s left so I used the number 3 upside down) and WeR Memory Keepers chipboard letters which I also painted with Jenni Bowlin's acrylic dabber (Soap Powder).

Here are a couple of detailed shots of the texture:

the splatter is obtained blowing with a straw on the little puddle of glimmer mist that I shook on the layout from the mask

 

All the stamped circles but one are attached with foam dots to give more depth and variation

 

An award and a layout

There are so many talented scrapbookers and crafters to whom I could give this award that it's impossible to choose. So I won't even try:) But I'm happy Jamie thought of me.

Here is my latest layout:

It's about Kristina and Matteo. I was taking pictures of them and happened to catch one where they are really true to themselves: always playing around and teasing each other.

I used Creative Scrappers  sketch #142 and  The Color Room's palette #47

I also enter this to The Studio's challenge where you're supposed to use a frame. My frame is the outer circle which is from Karen Russell's Narrative line for Creative Imaginations. 

Another layout

At the end of February last year one morning it started to snow in Rome. That is BIG! I mean the end of February is practically spring already here and we usually do NOT have any snow during the year. There have been a couple of occasions in the past 30 years that I have been living here that it has snowed (for like an hour or so). The last time it really snowed A LOT was back in 1985 - it started early in the morning of Jan 6th. How come I remember that so well? Because I was leaving to go to the hospital to deliver my now 26 yr old baby girl... but that's another story.

This layout is about last year's  snowfall and how my poor lemon tree was covered in snow for an hour - that is how long the snowfall lasted.

I used Creative Scrappers' sketch #141.

Some white paint to mimic the snow, some stitching and voilà. Loved this sketch.

I'm Creative Scrappers' guest for today.

I did a layout based on Kristine's sketch and it's about the summer language camp Andrea attended at the beginning of July in Grosseto, Italy. He had a fantastic time and I think he's found a new hobby: archery.

 

Needed to scrap!

I just HAD to scrap today. I took inspiration from The Studio's June 27th Challenge. This is what the challenge required:

Splash! We want to see your pages about the beach, sunshine... anything summer-ish! How do you spend your summer holidays? 

These photos were taken in Finland when Andrea was 6 yrs old. What sweet childhood memories: he could spend hours on end trying to catch with that net either the sun rays that glimmered on the lake or the minuscule fish right underneath the surface. 

I used Creative Scrappers' sketch # 76 for this. I used acrylic paint, sewing machine and some Prima bling to mimic the glittering sun rays. Just love how it turned out.

 

Creative Scrappers Reader's Reveal

The Creative Scrappers have celebrated their 1st birthday with a month long birthday bash with lots of new sketches, giveaways, games etc. Their Reader's Reveal was every Tuesday and Thursday of the month of April and I was lucky to have been asked to create a layout for the last reveal which is today.
